N2  - This study aimed to describe the representation of the value of books in a
television drama Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Tenchou. This study is a qualitative
research by using a semiotic approach. Data collection techniques used is
observation by carefully watching movies and then take screenshots and record
the dialogue scenes related to the research theme. The data analysis technique
used is Peirce semiotic analysis ie triangular of meaning theory. These results
indicate that the book value which represented in the television drama Biblia
Koshodou no Jiken Tenchou is knowledge value, economic value, political value,
aesthetic value, and social value. Knowledge value of the book demonstrated by
the behavior of booksellers, librarians, and students. Economic value of the book
is shown by the behavior of bookseller and housewives. Political value of the
book is shown by attitude book collector and rich people. Aesthetic value
represented by book cover design by book cover artist. Social value of books
represented by a person's behavior lends free books. Researchers suggest this
study as a reference for librarians to understand the types of library users.
