This research describes how and why the politeness strategies are used by Charlie and Max in their command utterances, also the similarity and difference of using politeness strategies in Charlie and Max?s command utterances in Real Steel. This research is qualitative descriptive. The data source is Real Steel movie and play script. The data are scenes of Charlie and Max?s command utterances. The collecting data technique is documentation. The data are analyzed by using Brown and Levinson?s theory of politeness strategy. This research finds some points. First, Charlie mostly uses bald-on-record strategy in cases of non-minimization of the face threat. Of 157 command utterances, 115 use bald-on-record strategy, 28 use positive politeness strategy, 12 use negative politeness strategy, and 2 use mixture of strategies. Second, Max also mostly uses bald-on-record strategy in cases of non-minimization of the face threat. Of 62 command utterances, 44 use bald-on-record strategy, 13 use positive politeness strategy, 4 use negative politeness strategy, and 1 use mixture of strategies. Third, the similarities and the differences between Charlie and Max?s command utterances occur in all politeness strategies, except in bald-on-record strategy. The difference occurs because of their different characters and experiences when they meet new people.} }
