N2  - Military education program is one of the activities in the field of education
that aims to shape the attitudes and behaviors of the students. Tamtama, as one of
rank group in Indonesian Army, has to through the first education period for five
months. Secata Rindam IV Diponegoro, as one of the institutions that organize the
first military education for Tamtama, applies persuasive method to shape
student?s attitudes and communication techniques. This research is arranged based
on researcher?s curiosity about how the trainers in military education applies the
persuasive communication, because generally, military environment is identical
with hard character.
The aim of this research is to describe the persuasive communication
which is used by Sekolah Calon Tamtama Rindam IV Diponegoro to shape
student?s military attitude. This research is a qualitative descriptive study of a
phenomenon in an educational military institution which uses primary and
secondary data sources. Data collection techniques that is used in this study are
depth interviews, observation, and documentation. For data analysis technique,
the researcher uses Miles and Huberman?s model, while for analyzing validity of
data uses triangulation sources technique.
The result of this study, persuasive communication is used in the military
education. Persuasive communication which is done by trainers to the students in
Secata Rindam IV Diponegoro is through personal approach in counseling
activity, and directly providing examples to the students. Persuasive
communication in this case is effective enough to influence or shape the attitude
of the student. Because the awareness towards the changes comes from persuadee
own self.
