%X This research aims to describe the forms and implementations of library
promotion activities at BPAD DIY on 2013-2014 based on gender perspective.
The method of this research uses descriptive qualitative method. Then, data
collection techniques use documentation, observation and interviews. This
research concludes that there are nine forms of library promotion activities at
BPAD DIY on 2013-2014, there are Workshop or Seminar, Book Review, Book
Fair, Building Exhibition, Visit Library Day Exhibition, Books Commemoration
Day, Competitions, Jogja Reading Movement and Creativity Development. On
those activities indicate high level of gender equality based on four aspects:
access, participation, control, and benefits. From those nine promotion activities
there is no one activities that contain gender inequality. But, there is one activity
which if it is seen from access aspect will potentially creates gender inequality
that is competition activity. The result of the research shows there are stereotype
that blocks men and women to compete together and an opinion that cognitive
ability of women is higher than men in the king and queen of book competition,
writing java story competition, and reviewing java book competition
