abstract: This research is aimed to describe the growth of reading interest model in trilogy
novel Negeri 5 Menara by Ahmad Fuadi. This research covers as library research
which uses data in form of written narrations, descriptions and dialogues in Negeri 5
Menara, Ranah 3 Warna and Rantau 1 Muara novel. This research uses pragmatic
approach and collects the data by documenting, observing, book studying, reading
and recording. In analyzing the data uses content analysis method. Through this
research, it is concluded that the models in developing reading interest in this novel
are: (a) giving examples from parents, teacher, and environment, (b) giving
motivation, (c) providing suitable and good literatures, (d) making reading pattern or
obligatory reading hour, and (e) showing prominent figure biography. The model that
becomes the most used is providing suitable and good literatures with 55 times use
and the least used is showing prominent figure biography model with 5 times use.
The researcher suggest this research is used as reference by the readers especially
parents and teachers so that they can give examples for developing reading interest in
family and society environment. It is because parents is the main example in
personality and habit of their children.
