ESOP is a type of pension plan that is designed to receive company contributions to a fund that will invest in the shares of the company for the benefit of employees. This study aims to examine and research the influence of ESOP applied to companies entering the category of sharia in Indonesia. Information about ESOP announcement less responded well by investors. The signal given by the company management through the ESOP events are not considered a good news by investors so as to give a negative reaction with the presence negative abnormal return. This happens because the ESOP is a program that is less popular for investors in Indonesia. The occurrence of a negative reaction around the announcement of ESOP can lead agency conflict between the owner of the company or investor with the employees or management. Agency conflicts occur because a conflict of interests between company owners and employees. Samples are 20 companies listed in the Daftar Efek Syariah (DES) during the period 2009-2014. Data analysis technique used is event study or one-sample t-test is preceded by normality test using SPSS 17. Results of statistical hypothesis testing showed no positive abnormal return around the announcement of ESOP.
