Fennel leaves are commonly consumed as vegetables. The local people also believe that these leaves can help increase breast milk supply for breastfeeding mothers. This research aims to determine the effect of fennel leaves? ethanol extract on the growth of offsprings during lactation period by measuring their weight gain every 3 days. This research was conducted experimentally using 25 mice post partum (PP) that gave birth on the previous three days along with 5 offsprings of each group. Fennel leaves extract were given to the dams using feeding tubes twice a day for 15 days. The measurements were made by weighing of offsprings every 3 days to note their growth. The data acquired for 15 days was tested using One Way ANOVA to find out the difference between the treatments and then continued with Duncan Multiple tests to determine the most effective dose concentration on the offsprings growth. The results showed that giving the extract affected to growth of offsprings. The dose of 631.6 mg / kg given every day for 15 days could increase the weight of offsprings (sign. 0.10), compared to the control one and the other doses used. Meanwhile, the results of the proximate analysis showed that Fennel leaves contain 13.1% Water, 14.2% Ash, 22.6% Crude Protein, Crude Fat 1.5%, 16.4% Crude Fibers, 49% carbohydrates and 208.1 cal / g Calories.
