The research is descriptive quantitative research. The quantitative approach is used to explain the instrumen by using statistic score. There reseach held at Respati Yogyakarta University, specialy in English Literature Study Program. The population of the research was students of English Literature Study Program and the sample was students who had taken Listening IV class as much as 15 students. The research method was purposive sampling, which means the sample was used based on the research needs.There are eight sub need analysis (necesities, lacks, wants, goal,input, procedure,lecturer role, and setting). The result shows that in necessities most students need to understood the instruction and to identify idioms expression and meaning as much as 16%, in lack analysis, students have various level of listening sub-skill. In goal sub-need analysis students want to knowmore on assumption skill as much as 17%.In input sub need analysis, students want monologue ad dialogue listening text as much as 72% . In the procedure, students primarily want to have direct listening practice through media.In lecturer role , students primarily want a lecturer to provide learning media needed in Listening IV class. In setting sub need analysis, students prefer to study use audio/video tape, and want to study in group.
