Serat Centini, written at about 2 centuries  ago, exposes the way of Javanese behaving towards the Qur'an. Among  the treatments are learning to recite the Qur'an; reciting the Qur'an in  group as they called it ngaji (reciting) and kataman (completing reciting  the whole text of the Qur'an); interpreting the Qur'an; reciting the Qur'an  in Shalat; healing process; or even initiating sexual intercourse. The  description left a room for the next generation to have the Qur'an as the  guidance for the daily life.
