And this view answered the opinion of some people that question the existence of library science. Another essential contribution made by Shera is his effort to integrate documentation and information science as an integral part of the library science. Also, in conjunction with information technology issues, Shera suggested librarians to enrich their skill and knowledge on computer. Furthermore, Shera encouraged librarians to use computers to support their librarianships task such as communication and distributed bibliographies. It is surprising that Shera discussed about computers because in his era (1970), computers were not widely used and well-developed. He also contributed on developing curriculum of library science by categorizing competencies that have to be met by librarians, namely: introduction, human and communication, library materials, access to bibliography, access to library collections, library as institution, library service and research. This category is adopted by many library school now.
