abstract: This paper aims to uncover the seeking information behavior of UIN
Sunan Kalijaga staffs in accessing internet that focuses only on UIN
Library Staff and Faculty of Adab and Culture Science staff. This
paper tries to compare the difference pattern of internet use between
staff at UIN Library and staffs at Faculty of Adab, female and male
Staffs, staffs working in public service and staffs working in
technical services. Data were gathered using quantitative method
based on eight indicators namely how resopndents learn internet,
place where the respondents access internet, time and the duration
used to use internet, search engine used at most, the purpose of
accessing internet and the ability the respondents have to to seek
information. Then, the data were analized using qualitative
approach. And the result shows that there is no significant difference
among UIN staffs in information seeking behavior. Basically, UIN
staffs use internet on daily basis. However, it is found that UIN staffs
are less knoledgable to search information effectively.
