S. Si., M. Mol. Bio. abstract: Nyawai (Ficus variegata Blume) is a member of family Moraceae. Nyawai is a semi recalcitran crop beans and can not be stored for a long time. To overcome this problem nyawai is propagated vegetatively by shoot cutting. One of the factors that influence the success of shoot cutting is the addition of growth hormone. Growth hormone generally used for plant cutting is Rootone-F. However, application of Rootone-F resulted in low percentage of living plants. Therefore, growth hormone from the extract of red onion (Allium cepa L) and mung bean sprouts (Phaseolus radiatus L) were used to replace Rootone-F. This research to aimed determine the effect of various sources of growth hormones and to determine the best source of growth hormone for shoot cutting of nyawai. The experimental design used was Randomized Complete Blok Design (RCBD) with two factors. The first factor was growth hormone source (Rotoone-F, red onion extract and extract of mung bean sprouts). The second factor was the concentration of onion extract (10%, 20% and 30%), mung bean sprouts extract (5%, 10% and 15%) and 100 ppm Rotoone-F. Every treatment consist of five replication, bringing the total of 200 shoot cutting. Data obtained from this study were analyzed by ANOVA continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with a level of 5%. The result showed that at week 8 treatment by onion extract 30% earned an average highest percentage of survival at 33,7% the data scoring is 2,04 and the number of roots as much as 10,7 unitts. Red onion extract 20% showing highest result cutting as height and number of leaves were as high as 0,25 cm and 3,9 strands and mung bean sprouts extract 15 % shows the highest root length is 8,2 cm.
