The existing knowledge about village also tends to identify village with harmony and avoiding conflict. However, globalisation and modernisation has much influence in inhibiting social change in village, positively and negatively. The spread of radicalism is one of the things that now challenges village’s harmony. Not only supporting the jihadists’ views of 9/11 attack in the US, or the government rejection of Ahmadiyah and Syiah, it is not difficult to find villagers who join with radical movement. As a result, polarisation amongst village community is unavoidable. There should be some things to do in policy making related to this.
