The method used in the writing of this thesis is descriptive qualitative method with cognitive approach and using purposive sampling technique. Methods of data collection using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis is done by data collection, data reduction, present data and conclude. The result of this research is the litratur of children giving role in the development of linguistic intelligence of children, especially in traits of students' linguistic intelligence according to Thomas Armstrong. The 3rd graders of SDIT LHI Yogyakarta are able to write better than other children of their age, make stories or tell jokes and stories, have good memories for names, places, dates or trivia, like word games, Spelling words accurately (spelling progressively advanced, or higher than his age), appreciating nonsense poems / poems, wordplay, language games, listening to the spoken word (stories, radio comments, and audio books ), Own and add new vocabulary, communicates with others in a very good oral way. Based on the results of this study there are some suggestions that children's literature is able to influence the linguistic intelligence of the child, for that classroom teachers and librarians should pay more attention to interest in reading children and always motivate students in reading.
