abstract: The Protestant Reformation fragmented the Catholic Church. 1) This division of Christians became a great obstacle to the spread of the Gospel. 2)Even though the Protestant Reformation set out to reform the head and the members of the Church, it was not merely the history of a revolution In religious belief. 3) It was part of a general awakening of the human Intellect, which had begun In the fourteenth century, and which the revival of classical learning and the Invention of the art of printing had contributed to the acceleration of its development. It was the life of the Renaissance Infused Into the religion. 4) It can be said that the Protestant Reformation had freed the intellectual life of the West from Church control. It gave an opportunity for Aufklarung or the Enlightenment to develop and eventually to usher in the modern world.
