%X This research focuses on trends topic of post-graduate student’s thesis in library  science of Gadjah Mada University (MIP-UGM) and UIN Sunan Kalijaga (IPI-UIN SuKa)  and observe the comparison of the trends topic thesis research in two universities that held  the study programs of master education (S2) in the city of Yogyakarta.  Research methodology: The research method applied in this study was the analysis of  bibliometrika-zipf's law with information taxonomy of Hawkins science. The sample used in  this study were the thesis abstract of post-graduate students in library science study program  of Gadjah Mada University and UIN Sunan Kalijaga in the year of 2014-2016.  Results: The result in this study in each university show that, first the trends topic of MIPUGM  commonly developed in the year of 2014-2016 were user behavior and use of the  information system (17,7%), while trends topic of thesis research at IPI- UIN Sunan Kalijaga  were the library description and types (12%). The comparison trends topic of thesis research  at both university lies on institution decision making based on the competency standards of  graduates and curriculum offered during lectures at each university.  ( INDONESIA ) Penelitian ini berfokus kepada trends topik penelitian tesis mahasiswa S2 ilmu perpustakaan  Universitas Gadjah Mada (MIP-UGM) dan UIN Sunan Kalijaga (IPI-UIN SuKa) serta  melihat perbandingan trends topik penelitian tesis pada dua universitas penyelenggara  pendidikan magister (S2) di dalam satu kota, Yogyakarta. Metode penelitian yang digunakan  dalam penelitian ini ialah analisis bibliometrika-zipf’s law dengan taksonomi ilmu informasi-  Hawkins. Sampel pada penelitian ini menggunakan abstrak tesis dari mahasiswa S2 ilmu  perpustakaan dari kedua penyelenggara tersebut pada tahun 2014-2016. Hasil dalam  penelitian ini, terlihat masing-masing universitas, pertama MIP-UGM trends topik penelitian  tesis yang berkembang pada tahun 2014-2016 ialah user behavior and uses of information  system (17,7%), sedangkan trends topic penelitian tesis pada IPI-UIN Sunan Kalijaga ialah  library description and types (12%). Perbandingan trends topik penelitian tesis pada kedua  penyelenggara terletak pada pengambilan keputusan dari pemangku kebijakan yang di  dasarkan oleh standart kompetensi lulusan dan kurikulum yang ditawarkan selama  perkuliahan pada setiap universitas penyelenggara. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu  memperkaya serta mengembangkan keilmuan di bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi,  terutama pada level magister.
