        abstract = {Instagram is one of new media which can be used for student selfpresentation.
Presentations made by the students themselves in the form of photos
uploaded on instagram using various filters to portray themselves as desired in
public.
This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected
using observation, in-depth interview, and documentation. To check the validity of
data, the researcher used triangulation. Research data obtained through
instagram account and interview with informants who is 2014 class of
communication student in UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.
The results of this study, researcher concluded that the filter photos in
instagam can be used as a student presentation tool. Filters are used vary
according the photos to be uploaded to communicate itself visually in instagram.
The use of filters is intended the photo uploaded photos look nice and attractive,
surely expected the management of each individual impression fulfilled.
