"The problem of poverty cause impact of the less awareness about the\r\nimportance of education, especially interest in learning children of riverside. This\r\nhappens because of less of knowledge and understanding from their parents about\r\nthe importance of learning interest in children. Less of attention from parents to\r\nchildren due to poverty factors so that, parents choose children to help their work.\r\nThis is the attention of researcher to know more. Persuasive communication\r\ntechniques become a way to persuade a child to build interest in learning. This\r\nstudy describes how the application of persuasive communication techniques in\r\nPaguyuban Pengajar Pinggir Sungai (P3S) Code Yogyakarta as a caring\r\ncommunity in the field of children's education, especially in building learning\r\ninterest.\r\nThe aim of this research is to know persuasive communication technique of\r\nteaching staff in building learning interest. This research uses descriptive\r\nqualitative method. The data were collected by interview, observation, and\r\ndocumentation. To check the data validity, researcher uses triangulation of sources.\r\nThe results of this research indicated that the persuasive communication\r\ntechniques could be used as a method to build children’s interest in learning.\r\nPersuasive communication techniques included: association technique, integration\r\ntechnique, pay-of technique, settings technique (icing technique), and red-herring\r\ntechnique. These techniques are applied when it has entered the stage of\r\nimplementation of the program. All of these persuasive communication techniques\r\ncould be used. For reward techniques could be used by giving rewards those are\r\nuseful, not by providing material in the form of money, candy, and food. One of the\r\nweaknesses of red-herring technique is the awareness of the child to follow the\r\nadvice of the teaching staff will be reduced. Because the child at any time will\r\nperform unexpected actions such as refute the invitation of teaching staff. This\r\nattitude appear because of the childish nature that always follow friends.
