%T Ilmu Kalam: Perspektif Ibn Khaldun
%X Ibn Khaldoo's chief contribution lies in philosophy of history and
sociology, but in his many writings, he come to discuss on Islamic
theology. As shown in this article, Ibn Khaldun has certain prespective on
Kalam as a kind of rational elaboration toward Islam. His defme Kalam as
a creative tension between syari'ah and philosophy. His masterpiece,
Muqaddimah covers the historical development of kalam and the different
schools of Islamic thought Ibn Khaldun also covers the historical
development of Islamic logic in the context of theology, as he viewed
logic as being distinct from early Islamic philosophy, and believed that
philosophy should remain separate from theology.
