%X The recent developments of islamic thought have been coloured by two contrasting forms, which accupy diametrically opposed positions in ways of understanding islamic doctines: revivalist and liberal islam respectively. both these revivalist and liberal views of islam have widely coloured islamic discourse in the muslim world, and delineate a conflict and a tension between both groups which starts from their different opinions and methods of interpretation.
