Adaptation of speech code to involves intercultural communication: perception, verbal communication, and non-verbal communication. It uses qualitative method with etnographic approach. This method in this research uses observation of participants and indepts interview. An immigrant who does an adaptation process be able with their culture identity. Adaptation process of speech code around Madura students in Yogyakarta could be seen from intonation, accent, expression, and gesture. Different of background can cause Madura students have many perception then constructed to be the foundation for doing an adaptation process of speech code with Yogyakarta people. The students of Madura in Yogyakarta can do adaptation with those manners : assimilation, separation, integration, and culture hybridity. Assimilation is one of Madura student?s way to equate the two cultures to keep relations and interaction with a new culture in Yogyakarta without prejudice. Separation is the way of Madura students to subsist in own culture, to minimize the interaction, and to tend to cluster in own culture. Integrations is one option offered to Madura students to keep own culture on the speech code, but they still do interaction with Yogyakarta people. The last, culture hybridity is a way that Madura students carry out negotiations and adaptation process to get a good perception in the host culture Yogyakarta.
