This research is a quasi experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. The variables in this study include the independent variable of problembased learning model and the dependent variable of learners' learning outcomes. The population in this study is all class X MIPA SMA N 2 Banguntapan academic year 2016/2017. Sampling was done by simple random sampling technique, selected X class MIPA 3 as experimental class of class X MIPA 2 as control class. The data retrieval technique used is the test technique. The research instrument used is pretest-posttest sheet. Data analysis technique used is parametric statistic that is t test and normalized gain test (N-Gain). The results showed that: (1) There is no effect of problem-based learning model with experimental method toward physics learning outcomes in SMA N 2 Banguntapan. Because of the t-test it is known that the accepted hypothesis is Ho which states that there is no average difference between the control class and the experimental class (sig. (2-tailed) = 0.178 α = 0.05). (2) The improvement of physics study result of class X students of SMA N 2 Banguntapan for experimental class is in medium category with N-Gain value of 0,56 while control class is in medium category with N-Gain value 0,64. This indicates that the experimental class and control class are in the same category. So do the effect size calculation with the result 0.25 are in the low classification. %Z Dr. Murtono, M.Si
