abstract: This study examines the correlation beetween school librarian competence
and student achievement in class XI of Senior High School Muhammadiyah 1
Yogyakarta. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a correlation
between the competence of school librarians to the achievement of class XI students
and how big its effect to the relationship of school librarian competence to the
achievement of students in grade XI SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. The
formulation of the problem in this research are 1. How is the competence of
librarians in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta? 2. What is student achievement
in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta? 3. Is there any correlation between
librarian competence and student achievement in Senior High School
Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta? and 4. How is the relationship between librarian
competence with student achievement in Senior High School Muhammadiyah 1
Yogyakarta? This Research used quantitative design using correlation method and
descriptive data analysis. The population of this study is all of students of class XI
in Senior High school Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta in which there are 369
students, random sampling chosen considering the population is more than 100
students. Researcher took sample from 15% of population.The result of this
research shows that the competence of school librarian in Senior High School
Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta is 3.50 with very good category. It indicates that the
competence of school librarian in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta with
standard of school librarian competence according to Permendiknas No 25 year
2008 is very well applied in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. Students
achievement has an average score 84, 82. There is a positive and significant
relationship between the competence of school librarians to student achievement
0.783. From the rxy result of 0.783 the positive relationship is in very high category.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and
the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected so that in this study there is a very high
correlation between the competence of the school librarian to the achievement of
students in grade XI of Senior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. The
result shows a positive and significant results between the competence of school
librarians and students’ achievement. The competency of librarians can be
continuously improved in order to enhance students’ learning achievement. ( INDONESIA ) Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang hubungan kompetensi pustakawan sekolah
dan prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. Tujuan
dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui adakah hubungan kompetensi pustakawan
sekolah dengan prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI dan seberapa besar hubungan
kompetensi pustakawan sekolah dengan prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI SMA
Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah,
bagaimana kompetensi pustakawan di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta?
bagaimana prestasi siswa di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta? adakah
hubungan antara kompetensi pustakawan dengan prestasi belajar siswa di SMA
Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta? seberapa besar hubungan antara kompetensi
pustakawan dengan prestasi belajar siswa di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta?
Penelitian dalam skripsi ini berjenis kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode
korelasi dan analisis data secara deskriptif. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah
seluruh siswa/i kelas XI SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta berjumlah 369 orang,
sedangkan pengambilan sampel dengan pertimbangan untuk tujuan tertentu
(purposive sampling) mengingat populasi lebih dari 100 maka peneliti mengambil
sampel sebanyak 15% dari jumlah populasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan
kompetensi pustakawan sekolah di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta berada
pada nilai 3.50 dengan katagori sangat baik, menunjukan bahwa kompetensi
pustakawan sekolah di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta dengan standar
kompetensi pustakawan sekolah menurut Permendiknas No 25 tahun 2008 sangat
baik diterapkan di SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta. Prestasi siswa memiliki
nilai rata – rata 84, 82. Adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kompetensi
pustakawan sekolah dengan prestasi belajar siswa sebesar 0,738. Dari hasil rxy
sebesar 0,738 hubungan positif tersebut dalam katagori sangat tinggi. Dapat
disimpulkan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nihil (Ho) di tolak,
maka dalam penelitian ini adanya hubungan sangat tinggi antara kompetensi
pustakawan sekolah dengan prestasi belajar siswa kelas XI SMA Muhammadiyah
1 Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukan hasil yang positif dan signifikan antara
kompetensi pustakawan sekolah dan prestasi belajar siswa. Perpustakan dapat
melakukan peningkatan secara terus menenurus kompetensi pustakawan
sekolahnya agar prestasi belajar siswa semakin lebih baik.
