Of its purposes is to protect their santris, a term to call pesantren students, from outside contamination during a period of their education within it. By across the time pesantren gives additional programs, one of them is an art. One of the most favorite arts is music and singing. The Islamic law on music is still being in pro and contra among society, especially in pesantren world. It should be wisely acknowledged that the variety of those thoughts in Islamic law starts from the arguments that are still dhanny (prejudice). This research aims to explore the identity negotiation created by alumni santri of Islamic boarding school who work as singers in the university students who were alumni of Islamic boarding schools in State Islamic University SunanKalijaga. The informants of this research are the State Islamic University SunanKalijaga students who had studied in various Islamic boarding schools. This research involves three informants and uses collecting data method by direct interview method. The result of this research shows that the identity negotiation process from the three informants of the alumni of Islamic boarding school who works as singers in State Islamic University SunanKalijaga students’ area is good enough. The identity negotiation of Islamic boarding school alumni who works as singers is influenced by their environment and family. Psychological condition of informants’ is patient, enthusiastic, and still hold out with their choice. %Z Maya Fitria, S.Psi., M.A.
