N2  - Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is one of a productive business unit
which play important role in construct economic development for society,
especially in empployment absorption. But the facts have shown that some things
are obstacle to SMEs development, such as low financial capital, minimum human
resources, and limited marketing access. Some people in Magelang have
developed productive business, such as culinary, handcraft, agriculture, and farm
sector. But, the fact that Magelang Central Bureau of Statistic shows that the rate
of unemployment in Magelang Regency is rising. And the income of society and
price increases were not balanced, so it could be a negative impact on poverty. To
overcome these problems, Bank Bapas 69 Magelang meditated Small and Medium
Enterprises empowerment program for society who lives in Magelang.
This research aims to explained communication development strategy in
SMEs empowerment. This research used a qualitative descriptive method and
triangulation to ensured the validity of the research. Datas are collected by
interview, observation, and documentation about SMEs empowerment of Bank
Bapas 69 Magelang.
The result of this research to explained that communication development
that used by Bank Bapas 69 Magelang in SMEs empowerment had appropiate
with communication startegy according to AED. SMEs empowerment was held by
many activities, such as coached, visited, competited, and exhibited. That
programs were shared through media, like magazine, newspaper, and television.
Empowerment program was effective and the community reacted positively to the
program.
