Similarly, it is faced by the Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren) and its students (Santri). One of modernization influences is on the human appearance changes. This article explains how the aesthetic appearance oflslamic Boarding SchoolAl-Munawwir and Ali Maksum Krapyak students. This is a descriptive-qualitative field research with phenomenological approach. The data collected are the result of interviews, observations, and documentations. Then they are analyzed and summarized descriptively. Based on the data that has been processed, it can be concluded that the first, the students oflslamic Boarding School Al-Munawwir and Ali Maksum Krapyak assume that the appearance is important because it serves as a mirror and identity of one's personality. Secondly, the students oflslamic Boarding School Al-Munawwir and Ali Maksum Krapyak standard of aesthetic appeamnce based on the teachings of religion as a major guideline in appearance. Thirdly, as for the factors that motivate students to aesthetic appearance are: a). Religious orders, b). Profession and status demands, c). Following Modern Trend, d). Relation to rules of lslamic Boarding School
