abstract: Financial distress or financial difficulty is the stage where there is a decline in financial condition before a company actually went bankrupt. This study aims to analyze the factors that affect the financial distress by using a sample of 12 companies of Sharia Commercial Banks listed on the statistics of Islamic Banking OJK (SPS) in the period of five years starting in 2012 until 2016. This study uses Z Score Altmant to classify companies experiencing financial distress and who do not experience financial distress. The variables used in this research are financial distress as dependent variable and ratio of capital aduquancy ratio (CAR), return on asset (ROA), finance deposit ratio (FDR), current liabilities to total asset (CLTA) and debt ratio (DR) as an independent variable. Statistical analysis used in this research is with descriptive statistic test, and logistic regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that CAR and CLTA have negative and significant effect on the condition of financial distress. While the ratio of ROA, DR, and FDR does not affect the financial distress condition in sharia banking in Indonesia.
