abstract: The purpose of this study is to find out the description of hardiness owned by elder women in the Javanese society that work as peyek’s maker and part of commerce in traditional market. The research used qualitative approach and the metode is case study. Using thie metode is aimed to inspect about somme case or phenomenon that limited by times and activity on 3 main subjects (68-83 years old) and some significant others with some consideration understand the life about the subjects. To gathering the data is use observation and interview technique. The result of the research toward 3 subjects show that dynamic when they were work as a commerce amongs part of the 55 years old toward now in the old age (second phase of life). Refer that the background of hardiness in a work life is meaningfulness, and happiness, and occasion, and as part of social creature. With the consider of the limit of the ability, a good time regulation, and not abundant expectation. Factors effect in hardiness divide to internal factor and external factor. The internal factors are religion and culture values, work ethics, experience, motivation, self confidence, and sense of gratitude. External factors are social supports and parenting.
