The research explains how the role of intercultural communication shapes social identity inside IPMKN-Y. As an ethnical organization of Riau Archipelago, IPMKN-Y has a unique characteristic because of its various ethnicity. This study illustrated how intercultural communication is conducted by both ethnics, Malay and Java, in order to shape the social identity of the organization. This research used qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected using interviews, observation, and documentation. The validity of datas were checked by triangulation of sources. The result of this research showed that any intercultural communication conducted by both ethnics, Malay and Java, were able to shape social identity of IPMKN-Y. It can't be separated from the awareness of learning & understanding the diversity it self. That kind of process drives both of them to formulate the value of social organization identities.
