%X In general this study pictures archive acquisition role looked by using
point of view of oral history program. Oral history program discussed in here are
about activities descriptions conducted by work unit of sub directorate of archive
acquisition III, the acquisition role of results of oral history program in National
Archives of Indonesia in collecting information from figures and effect of the role
of those activities in collecting information from figures.
This study used qualitative method with descriptive approach. Snowball
technique was used for selecting informants in this study. Moreover, observation
and interview were used as data collection methods. Afterwards, for data analysis
interactive model consisted of four steps—data collection; data reduction; data
presentation and conclusion/verification—were used.
We found that archive acquisition activities through oral history program
in National Archives of Indonesia consist of 5 activity steps, in which all of those
steps are linked each other and use information technology on each activity step.
Those activity steps are (1) interview program planning; (2) figure appointment;
(3) interview process; (4) transcription and labeling; and (5) activity evaluation.
Afterwards, the results of archive acquisition role of oral history program in
National Archives of Indonesia in collecting information from figures are (1)
archive saving; (2) valuable archive enrichment; and (3) important information
preservation obtained from figures. We also found that oral history archive in
collecting information from figures affect social, culture, politics, institution, and
archive access openness.
