The purpose of this study was to synthesize CNF from Salacca peels with CVD method, to study CNF characterization using SEM and XRD and to examine the effect of pyrolysis temperature on CNF synthesis. CNF was successfully synthesized by the CVD method using activated carbon and acetylene gas (C2H2) as carbon, nickel chloride (NiCl2) as catalyst and nitrogen (N2) as an inert gas. CVD is done by varying the pyrolysis temperature of 6000C, 7000C and 8000C. The results of SEM characterization showed that CNF was formed optimally at 7000C produced by more CNFs formed at smaller diameters than those produced at 6000C. CNF produced at CVD at 6000C has an average diameter of 100 nm, at a temperature of 7000C having an average diameter of 40 nm. At 8000C a CNF rod was formed with a diameter of 168 nm. The results of this study are XRD, CNF by the highest at 2θ = 430, this shows the plane (101) and the second peak at 2θ = 510, indicating the sample. Research that has been carried out shows that the pyrolysis temperature is influential in the formation of CNF. Of the 3 sample variations, the most optimal temperature for CNF synthesis is 7000C %Z Asih Melati, M.Sc
