This study aims to determine the characteristics and the adsorption capacity towards naphtol dyes of humic acid taken from Kalimantan peat isolation. Purified isolation of humic acid are characterized using Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Optical Microscope, total acidity content measurement, and measurement of content of the group {--}COOH (carboxylic) and {--}OH phenols. The characterized humic acid was further used as an adsorbent to adsorb the naphthol dye solution. The adsorption process was carried out with variation of pH, contact time, naphthol dye concentration to determine optimum adsorption capacity, adsorption reaction kinetics and adsorption isotherm. The adsorption process was measured using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer to determine the concentration of adsorbed naphthol dyes. The adsorption study of the research results showed that the adsorption of naphtol dye on humic acid was optimum at pH 2. The kinetics adsorption of the naphtol dye on humic acid adsorbent follows the pseudo second order Ho kinetics model with the constant reaction rate of 0,795 g/mg minute. The adsorption isotherm of naphtol dye follows the Freundlich isotherm model with an adsorption capacity of 99,52 mg/g.} }
