N2  - This study aims to analyze the effect of mergers and acquisition on firm
performance in Jakarta Islamic Index. Corporate performance is measured by
using financial ratios: Net Profit Margin (NPM), Return On Assets (ROA), Return
On Equity (ROE), Earning Per Share (EPS), Total Assets Turn Over (TATO) and
Current Ratio (CR). Merger is a two companies or more that do unity to
strengthen the position of the company. While the acquisition is a take over, some
or all shares of other companies so that the acuirier has the right of control over
the target company.
Documentary data is used in this study. While study population are included a
public company listed in the JII, which had conducted merger and acquisition,
and announced its activity in the priode 2011-2016. The sampling method used in
this study was purposive samplin, in which there are five companies included in
criteria for this study. Wilcoxon Sign Test, and neutral test are used to answer
hypothesis 1 to 6 (the calculation of financial ratio).
The result of the Wilcoxson Sign Test showed no significant difference for the
financial ratios NPM, ROA,ROE, EPS, TATO, and CR for testing (H-1) with
(H+1) and (H-1) with (H+3) mergeres and acqusition. But there is little
difference in comparasion (H-1) with (H+2) years after merger adn acqusition,
ROA and TATO shows there are significant differences.
