abstract: Sakinah family, which means a happy and peaceful family is the dream of
every Muslim couple. But building a happy family is not easy because there are many
obstacles that accompany. The communication factor is often the trigger as well as
the answer to problems in the family, so it is very important to build communication
between family members in order to create a trustful and harmonious family. As was
done by several families in Purbayan Village, Kotagede Sub-District, Yogyakarta
City, which became the village’saspirant of the Sakinah Family.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative method that aims to describe a
phenomenon. Data collection techniques were carried out by direct observation
methods, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were three
families in Purbayan Village, Kotagede Subdistrict, Yogyakarta City which became
the village’saspirant of the Sakinah Family. The data obtained were then described
based on the nature of interpersonal communication and the Julia T. Wood
transactional communication model.
The results of this study are that the three families who are the village apirant
of the Sakinah Family do mutual communication efforts in a dialogue or two-way
(diadic) or three-way (triadic). The communication process that went well and
opencan influence the emergence of a sense of mutual understanding and impact in an
effort to reach a happy family, a sakinah, mawaddah, warahmah family.
