"A classical Arabic syntax crisis, that is philosophicaltheological-\r\nprescriptive, makes it difficult for learners to\r\nlearn. Hence, modern linguists reconstruct it, and offer the\r\nArabic syntax that is scientific-descriptive-pedagogical.\r\nAmong the linguists, Syauqī D{aif [1910-2005] and Tammām\r\nH{assān [1918-2011] are the most influential ones because of\r\ncomposing the new Arabic syntax and at the same time\r\nexplaining the epistemology in the whole work. However, not\r\na few people consider that they only simplify and redefinethe\r\nclassical Arabic syntax so that it is not epistemological.\r\nMoreover, in the context of Arabic language education in\r\nIndonesia, the epistemology of Arabic syntax, both classic and\r\nmodern, requires a proper portion. As a result, the Arabic\r\nsyntax is compiled or is used by following the classical Arabic\r\nsyntax, and less concerned on the epistemological foundations\r\nof Arabic syntax. Consequently, pedagogical syntax for\r\nIndonesian learners is quite difficult to learn because it is\r\nphilosophical-theological. Based on the problem, this study\r\naims to compare the epistemology of Arabic syntax composed\r\nby Syauqī and the one by Tammām, and to relate the\r\nepistemology from both of them in preparing pedagogical\r\nsyntax for Indonesian learners.\r\nThe scientific approach used to solve the problems is\r\nthe philosophy of language education with the epistemology\r\ntheory of classic and modern nah{w, educational linguistics,\r\nand pedagogical grammar. As for the methodological\r\napproach, this research used synthetic-heuristic approach\r\nthrough library data. While for the data analysis, this\r\nstudyapplied the internal discourse of the text with linguistic\r\nanalysis methods, intertectual and comparative.\r\nBased on the finding of the research, it was found that\r\nepistemologically, Syauqī composed pedagogical grammar by\r\nusing educational linguistic approach, and Tammām, with an\r\nintegrative approach between classical and Western Arabic\r\nlinguistics, composed pedagogical syntax and scientific\r\nsyntax. In developing Arabic syntax, both used the source of\r\nclassical texts, turās\\ and modern texts. The method used by\r\nSyauqī was the naqd and tajdi>d an-nah{w in order to produce the theory of taisi>r an-nah{w, and Tammām applied istis{h{a>b\r\nmethod and was{fiyyah in order to find the tad{a>fur al-qara>’in\r\nand zaman wa jihah. As viewed from educational linguistics,\r\nthe pedagogical syntax developed by Syauqī is a criticalstructural-\r\nbehavioris-mediation, while Tammām is a criticalfunctional-\r\nconstructivist-social. In developing this\r\npedagogical syntax, both used the method naqd al-us{u>l, tas{ni>f\r\nal-qawa>‘id; tansi>q an-nah{w at-ta‘li>mi> li an-na>t{iqi>n, tansi>q annah{\r\nw at-ta‘li>mi> li gair an-na>t{iqi>n; dan ta‘ri>d{ al-mawa>d. Based\r\non the epistemology, Arabic syntax developed by the two so\r\nthat it produced pedagogical syntax, the arrangement of the\r\npedagogical syntax for the most relevant novice Indonesian\r\nlearner is the Indonesian-Arabic approach model. The results\r\nof this study are different from the educational linguistics in\r\ngeneral that are \"passive\" on the discussion of the process in\r\nproducing the scientific grammar of the linguist."^^ .
