Nurturing Orphaned Orangutans are available as headlines from a series of photos that use visual communication in the form of series photos. Born from the idea of an Indonesian photo journalist, Kemal Jufri, this photo tells the story of the lives of orphaned orangutans treated by the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundations (BOSF) at Nyaru Menteng, Central Kalimantan. The objects in this study are ten photos of Kemal Jufri's series which won first place in the category of nature and environment at the Istanbul Photo Award 2017. In this study the authors used a qualitative approach. However the research method used is Roland Barthes's semiotics. Roland Barthes's semiotics has three stages in interpreting a photograph, namely the stages of denotation, connotation and myth. After conducting a study through Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis of the photo of the Nurturing Orphaned Orangutans by Kemal Jufri, the author discovered how the issue of orangutan conservation was carried by Kemal through his photo series. Conservation in the photo of Kemal Jufri is described by caring for, feeding, treating, training and providing shelter for orangutans. Conservation issues delivered by Kemal Jufri through his photos, most of them use high angle photography techniques.} }
