N2  - This study discusses about communication style of the administrators of Forum Komunikasi Mahasiswa Santri Banyuanyar (FKMSB) Yogyakarta, in building the learning motivation of its members. FKMSB is an alumni students organization of Darul Ulum Banyuanyar Islamic Boarding School, Pamekasan Madura. FKMSB become a medium for the members in supporting their academic development, capacity building, and others. This research is motivated by the learning motivation decline of FKMSB members, and the administrators efforts in building the learning motivation. This research method is using descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through observation, interview, and documentation, and using triangulation of data sources as data validity techniques. The purpose of this study is to find out how the communication styles of the FKMSB administrators in building the learning motivation of their members. This research using three units of analysis of communication style, namely passive style, assertive style, and aggressive style, and six indicators of learning motivation: a) the existence of desire to succeed, b) the existence of encouragement and need in learning, c) the existence of hope and ambition for the future, d) the existence of appreciation in learning, e) the existence of interesting activities in learning, f) the existence of a conducive learning environment. The results of this study are, from the three types of communication styles, passive style and assertive style are the styles that tend to be owned by the administrators, while aggressive styles become styles that are avoided. The passive style and assertive style of the FKMSB administrators, with some supporting activities and the achievements they get, are considered successful in building the members learning motivation.
