One of them happened to students who came from the island of West Sulawesi who fulfilled their educational needs on the island of Java. As a new person with a different cultural background requires them to be able to adapt to students around the campus, this is done by frequent interactions and communication carried out by Mandar students with Javanese students in the campus environment in which there is a communication accommodation. The theory used is accommodation communication theory. Richard Turner defines that accommodation communication is the ability to adjust, modify or regulate a person's behavior in response to others. This study uses a qualitative approach with a type of descriptive research. An important point in the accommodation theory of communication, that in communicating each person has a choice in determining the communication attitude, namely by convergence and divergence. The results of the study found that students who conduct communication accommodation are convergence and divergence. These two forms are found in language, greetings, and procedures for explaining things. Communication barriers are the main factor for students to communicate with them, because the average Javanese student slipping their regional language every time they communicate sometimes makes communication less effective. The need for interaction with the environment makes Mandar students adapt. %Z Fajar Iqbal, .Sos.,M,Si
