One of the reasons is that teachers have not used varied learning and are still using conventional methods. This study aims to determine the effect of Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning to increase learning motivation in mathematics subjects in fifth grade students of X Elementary School in Yogyakarta. This research is a True Experiment study using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research design. The number of subjects in this study were 60 students consisting of 30 students in the VB class as an experimental class and 30 students in the VA class as a control class. Data collection in this study uses a learning motivation scale. The data analysis method used is the Independent Sample T-Test technique to test the difference in scores of the two unpaired samples, namely VA and VB class data. Based on the results of the analysis showed that there was a positive and significant effect in Think Pair Share (TPS) learning with a value of t = 17.604 and a p value of 0.000 (p <0.05). This is indicated by the difference in the mean value of the post-test results of the experimental class = 107.87 and the mean value of the post-test results of the control class that is = 85.43. Based on these data, it can be concluded that Think Pair Share (TPS) type of cooperative learning can increase student motivation in mathematics.
