This research was conducted to: 1) know the tolerance values contained in the textbook on History of Islamic Culture in Madrasah Tsanawiyah; 2) find the values of tolerance that still need to be developed in the textbook on History of Islamic Culture in Madrasah Tsanawiyah. This type of research is qualitative research with a historical approach and a philosophical approach. The historical approach is used to understand the content of the textbooks associated with historical books that contain material in the History of Islamic Culture. A philosophical approach is an approach to examine and to solve educational problems using philosophical methods. The research method used is the content analysis. The results showed that there were five tolerance values found in the textbooks in class VII, VIII, and IX: 1) acknowledging the rights of each person; 2) respecting the beliefs of others; 3) appreciatingthe differences; 4) mutual understanding; and 5) awareness and honesty. Based on this result, it can be concluded that the textbooks contains tolerance values so that they are feasible to use. In addition, there are some texts that do not reflect tolerance values so that it needs to be developed both by adding information and editing the word. This is caused by an incomplete explanation in the textbook, the use of less appropriate word or less appropriate content that does not describe tolerance so that it can potentially cause intolerant misunderstanding. %Z Prof. Dr. H.
