description: This study aims to determine the economic base sector of Labuhan Batu Regency. The research method used is quantitative with descriptive study. The data in this study are secondary data in the form of time series of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) of Labuhan Batu Regency and Sumatra Utara Province obtained from BPS publications of Labuhan Batu Regency and North Sumatra Province starting in 2013-2018.  Tests in the study are Klassen Typology, Location Quotient, Shift Share, Overlay and MRP. This analysis model classifies the economic sectors into four namely the base sector, developing sector, potential sector and lagging sector, based on the contribution of growth and the rate of growth. By taking a study of Labuhan Batu Regency and the North Sumatra Province reference area, this analysis can find out which are the base sectors in Labuhan Batu Regency during the 2013-2018 period. Based on the results of the analysis of some of the methods of analysis, it shows that the sector which is the basis or superior in Labuhan Batu Regency is the manufacturing industry sector.
