        abstract = {This research aims to determine the successsful aging of elderly married couples
in Gunungkidul. The informants in this research amounted to 3 elderly couples in
Soka, Mertelu, Gunungkidul. This research method uses qualitative methods with
a phenomenological approach. Data collection methods used were semistructured
interviews, participation observations and documentation. The
techniques analysis using the process of data reduction, data coding, data
categorization, data clustering, data presentation and drawing conclusions or
verification. The results showed that the representation of successful aging was 1)
good physical functioning, 2) psychological well-being, 3) living in harmony and
cooperation, 4) self-control, 5) maintaining household harmony, 6) fulfilling
parental responsibilities. The influencing factors consist of physical and
psychological health, are still active and productive, diligent in worship, and have
work and income. The meaning of successful aging is to thank God and Nrimo
with the existing circumstances, especially given an adequate fortune, health, and
fulfilled. In addition, success is also interpreted as success in achieving desires,
including completing work and has successfully married their children.}
