This study utilizes quantitative methods with a scale of optimism and scale of subjective well-being as the data collection instruments. The research subjects are 45 elementary school non-permanent teachers in Yogyakarta City. The sampling technique of this study is Cluster Random Sampling. The data analysis method applied is the Pearson product-moment analysis technique. The results of this study exhibit there is a significant positive relationship between optimism and subjective well-being of non-permanent teachers with correlation coefficient r = 0,463 and p = 0,001 (p < 0,05). This means that the higher optimism a non-permanent teacher has, the higher the subjective wellbeing. On the contrary the lower the optimsm, the lower the subjective well-being. The value of R square (r2) obtained is 0,214 which means that the effective contribution of optimism towards subjective well-being is 21,4%.
