Tells the story of a black pianist who gets racist treatment called Dr. Don Shirley while on a musical tour with his assistant Tony Lip, who is a white racist to change the stigma of society at the time about black peoples. This study tries to answer the formulation of the problem wich is "How is the representation of racism in individual and institutional forms in the Green Book film?" This study uses qualitative research methods, and the theory used is Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. Data collection techniques in this study collected by documentation and literature study methods, which used Peter Farelli's Green Book film. From the observations in the film, the results found at least 12 scenes depicting representations of racism personally and institutionally. This representation appears through dialogue scenes, attitudes, and physical signs such as warning boards, as well as through the setting of time and place.
