The process of seeking self-identity is closely related to how adolescents assess or evaluate themselves. With formal education, they are expected to find life values that can shape self-esteem in adolescents. However, in reality there are still many teenagers who are neglected and drop out of school so that they have difficulty finding life values and hinder the formation of their self-esteem. This study aims to determine how the picture of the self-esteem of teenagers who drop out of school at the PSBR and how the role of the PSBR environment in shaping their self-esteem. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive methods. In determining the subject, the writer uses purposive sampling technique with certain criteria. The subjects of this study were the head of the PSBR, the head of the section of the coaching section, the social services section, the ustaz/ustazah and PSBR foster children totaling 10 people. The data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. The analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation, and interpretation. The results showed a picture of the self-esteem of teenagers who dropped out of school, namely first, they felt accepted by a social group, meaning that they had close association with people in the PSBR environment, be it their friends or PSBR employees. Second, they have a feeling of being productive, meaning that they have goals in life and are optimistic in realizing those goals. And third, they have a feeling of worth because they are still needed by those around them. In this study, the authors also found that the environment has an important role in the formation of self-esteem for someone, even more so for a teenager. This is evidenced by the description of the self-esteem of these school dropouts. This self-esteem is formed through interactions with the environment. The environment that regulates them from waking up until they go back to sleep through four programs, namely social guidance, religious mental guidance, skills guidance, and physical guidance, so that the formation of their self-esteem occurs at that time.
