A country that only focuses on increasing its income regardless of the environmental quality problems it causes can lead to an increase in environmental degradation in the country. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation as measured by CO2 emissions based on the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis, with supporting variables namely energy consumption and population growth. This study uses a dynamic method, namely Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to determine the short-term and long-term relationships of all the variables studied. The years used in this research are from 1975 to 2019. The results of this study indicate that in the short and long term the EKC hypothesis in Indonesia is not proven. EKC is not proven in the short term because reducing carbon dioxide emissions takes a long time. Meanwhile, EKC is not proven in the long term because Indonesia is still a developing country that prioritizes economic growth, thus ignoring environmental damage. Meanwhile, energy consumption in the short and long term has a positive and significant effect. Population growth has a positive and significant effect in the short term, and has a significant negative effect in the long term on CO2 emissions in Indonesia. date: 2021-05-19 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/44095/1/19208010005_BAB-I_IV-atau-V_DAFTAR-PUSTAKA.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/44095/2/19208010005_BAB-II_sampai_SEBELUM-BAB-TERAKHIR.pdf identifier: NADA GILANG MARDATILLAH, NIM: 19208010005 (2021) PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI DAN DEGRADASI LINGKUNGAN DI INDONESIA PERIODE 1975-2019.
