"This study aims to determine how the efforts to increase reading interest in students\r\nat SD N Demangan Yogyakarta. This type of research is descriptive qualitative,\r\nwith a case study approach with the research subjects of principals and teachers,\r\nlibrarians, guardians of students, and students who carry out learning activities at\r\nhome. The object of research is an effort to increase students' reading interest in SD\r\nN Demangan Yogyakrta. The data collection technique of this research is\r\nobservation, interview, and documentation. The data analysis process uses data\r\npresentation and conclusion. The data validity test used the data credibility test\r\nusing extended observations, triangulation, and memberchecks. The results of this\r\nstudy indicate that: (1) Efforts to increase students' interest in reading at SD N\r\nDemangan Yogyakarta, the efforts made by the school to give freedom for each\r\nstudent to read books in the library, open cooperation with institutions that want to\r\nincrease literacy of school children, give students freedom to participate in literacy\r\ncompetitions outside of school, establish literacy hut and efforts to increase reading\r\ninterest carried out by the library by organizing mandatory library visit activities,\r\nstorytelling activities, watching movies, reading books for 15 minutes in the library\r\nbefore teaching KBM, cooperation from the library with the city library, and\r\nproviding information to students about learning and student literacy through\r\nInstagram media and textbook borrowing can be borrowed at school to help learning\r\nat home. (2) What obstacles are faced in increasing students' reading interest,\r\nnamely the location of the library that is less strategic for students to reach, the lack\r\nof fiction book collections, the lack of adequate facilities, and the lack of parental\r\nsupervision when students are studying at home and the lack of innovative\r\nprograms from librarian. Based on the research results, efforts to increase students'\r\nreading interest in SD N Demangan are still not good enough. There are suggestions\r\nthat need to be done namely librarians must be more innovative in supporting\r\nlearning activities as they are now so that libraries can run according to their\r\nfunctions, parents of students who must accompany their children in learning\r\nactivities at home."^^ .
