%X This research is motivated because of the admiration for the charismatic  figure of the Kiai at the Hidayatul Mubtadiin Islamic Boarding School who plays a  very important role in educating and shaping the character of the students, of course  this is not an easy thing because seeing the diverse backgrounds of the students and  different characters. The researcher conducted an in-depth research on how the  Kiai's Charismatic form the character of the students at the Hidayatul Mubtadiin  Ngunut Islamic Boarding School, Tulungagung.   The results of this study indicate that a charismatic Kiai will be able to be  an example, able to provide advice and motivation. In addition, the Kiai must  always monitor their behavior and provide punishment for students who do not  obey the rules at the Islamic Boarding School. As for the role of a Kiai is as a foster  parent of students and as a charismatic leader, while the inhibiting factor is due to  the lack of awareness of the students, differences in the background of the students  and misused technology. The supporting factors for the formation of the character  of the students are due to the wise caregivers, competent Ustadz, firm  administrators and consistent regulations.
