This is also applied to formal education at the al-Qodir pesantren, all students who register at the school must be accepted even though from an intellectual point of view not many are intellectual backward, lack of interest in schools and economic limitations. Therefore, it is not easy for every educational institution to educate students / santri who have different backgrounds. This is what makes the author interested in examining how the institutional management at the Al-Qodir Islamic Boarding School, the leadership of the kiai and the strategies carried out by the leadership of the pesantren in meeting the different needs of the students, is adjusted to the purpose of the students coming to the pesantren. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach, located in the Al-Qodir Islamic Boarding School, Cangkringan, Sleman. In the data collection process, the writer used several techniques, namely, interviews, observation and documentation. Meanwhile, in the data analysis section, the writer uses several steps, namely, processing and preparing the data, reading the entire data, organizing the data, describing the data, presenting the results of the analysis, and making the interpretation of the research results. The results of this study indicate that first, institutional management in Al-Qodir Islamic Boarding School uses management functions, namely planning, organizing, implementing and supervising activities under the Al-Qodir Islamic Boarding School. Second, leadership at the al-Qodir pesantren is a central figure, so that a kiai is still an icon of the pesantren, but in his leadership he uses collective leadership (foundations) so that the decision involves stakeholders. Third, in order to achieve the quality of educational institutions at the Al-Qodir Islamic Boarding School, the strategies carried out by the leadership of the Al-Qodir Islamic Boarding School are improvements in education, procurement of human resources, improvements in curriculum, human resource development, entrepreneurship, and relationships with various parties.} }
