description: Schools that have implemented literacy conditions do not guarantee that   their students have good science literacy. Science literacy is the ability to think  scientifically in processing issues and problems that occur in daily life based on  scientific knowledge to produce decisions. This study aims to determine the  scientific literacy ability of 11  th   grade MAN students in Sleman Regency.    The research method used was descriptive which involved 189 students in  three different schools consisting of 44 students of MAN 1 Sleman, 82 students of  MAN 3 Sleman, and 63 students of  MAN 5 Sleman. The sampling technique was  carried out using proportionate stratified random sampling. Retrieval of research  data using the Science Inquiry Literacy Test (ScInqLiT) instrument wich was  adapted from  Wenning’s (2007) and translate into Bahasa. The research data  were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis by calculating the  percentage of the scientific literacy ability at each indicators.   The students' scientific literacy ability of 11  th   grade MAN students in Sleman   Regency for indicators identified and determined the experimental variables  42.44% (medium); determine and analyze the alternative model 27.09% (low);  draw a conclusion based on evidence by applying statistics, mathematics, and  technology 29.20% (low); understand and analyze data in the form of tables and  graphs 34.10% (low); designing and interpreting information 27.96% (low);  determine the prediction of the hypothesis 31.84% (low); designing experimental  procedures 41.44% (medium); and identify the problems to be investigated  44.57% (medium). These results indicate that the scientific literacy ability of 11  th     grade students of MAN students in Sleman Regency are classified as low with an  average indicator of 33,43%.
